TWSA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING November 9, 2009
There was no board meeting in October.
Board Members Present: Marty Neas, Marlyn Kemnitz, Mike Borchers & Carl Johnson
Board Members Absent: Brian Pedersen & Paul Gasser
Member Present: Laverne Nelson & Bret Mittelstaedt
Special Guest: Sam & Rick Mattison from Boy Scout Troop 285. Sam designed a live trap and made, with the help of others, 10 traps for the Tomah Ranger Station to be used by the public when needed. Sam incurred over $400.00 in expenses and was wondering if we could help him out. Mike Brochers made a motion to give the whole troop $100.00 and they could decide how to use the money, seconded by Marlyn Kemnitz, motion carried.
Secretary Report:
Carl Johnson read the secretary’s report. Marty Neas made a motion to accept as read, motion second by Mike Brochers, motion carried.
Treasurer Report:
Marlyn Kemnitz read the treasurer’s report. Mike Borchers made a motion to accept as read, motion second by Marty Neas, motion carried.
Old Business:
The sealing of the blacktop has been tabled until spring since it is getting too late in the season to seal it now.
Discussion on seeking a group rate with other sportsman clubs has been tabled for the next meeting.
The renting of the building to Rhonda Zingler went very well. Rhonda and her scrapbook ladies had a very good time at the club house.
Brian P., Paul G., and Bret M. are still working on contacting other archery clubs on shoot dates.
The archery & rifle deer contest will be held on January 16th starting at 6pm.
New Business:
We received thank you letters from Oakdale Fire Department, Boys & Girls Club for donation to the golf outing, Wisconsin Bowhunters Association and the Tomah Middle School (6th grade Eagle Bluff trip).
Laverne brought up the Friends of the NRA banquet will be April 24, 2010 and was wondering if we were going to donate a rifle again to the banquet. Mike made a motion to donate $170-$225 to purchase a gun for the banquet, seconded by Marlyn Kemnitz, motion carried.
Carl will contact Minuteman Press to get new pamphlets and memberships ordered for 2010. It was decided to mail a pamphlet, waiver, and membership to all members with a self addressed envelop to get the waivers and memberships sent back. We will also send pamphlets and waivers to nonmembers who have signed waivers last years.
The Euchre party had its best turn out in October. 52 card players. We could always use more players.
Shotgun:
Laverne mentioned that the high skeet house is breaking a lot of birds if the thrower is fully loaded with birds. If the thrower is half filled the thrower works a lot better.
Laverne said the traveling trap league has been mentioned again. It was agreed upon that Laverne could hold a meeting with other clubs at our clubhouse to get the league started again.
Archery:
Sharlee Mittelstaedt would like to make a donation to the youth program in some way in Larry’s name. This could go to archery, fishing and shotgun events that are held in the club’s name. Carl will form a committee to help decide what will be given and contact Sharlee with the results.
Archery indoor shooting starts December 16th.
Carl will look into getting a winter ad put in the WBH winter magazine.
Club Events:
December 22nd will be the Christmas Party starting at 6pm. Bring a dish to pass.
The next Euchre party will be January 30, 2010 at 7pm.
Next board meeting will be December 14th at 7pm. Meeting will be held at the fair grounds (Green Exhibit building).
Note from President:
We have three board members going off the board in February. We need help from all members to get involved. We are always looking for new ideas to improve the club and strengthen our organization. If we do not and it is the same people every year, I am afraid we will not last. Whether you enjoy archery, shotgun shooting or fishing, we need all of you to get involved. Please show up at the Annual Meeting February 8, 2010 7pm at the TWSA Clubhouse.
Thanks,
TWSA President Carl Johnson
