                  May - 2009 Tomah-Warrens Sportsman Alliance

Board members present:  Carl Johnson, Mike Borchers, Curt Gibeaut, Brian Peterson,

Paul Gasser, Marty Neas.

Old business:

·        Paul Gasser read minutes from the April meeting.  Mike Borchers made a motion to approve the minutes. This action was seconded by Marlin Kemnitz.

·         Marlin Kemnitz made a Treasurer’s report for the month of April. Fishermen’s Night Out produced $13,412.00 and there were $9,627.98 in expenses. Archery generated a total of $3,744.00, with $2,685.00 for Indoor League and $1,059.00 from the recent 3D shoot. Euchre parties have recently generated $98.00. Shotgun generated a total of $1,247.00, with weekly shoots $1,045.00 and $202.00 from shotgun shells. Fish pond generated $305.00.    A motion was made by Mike Borchers to accept this report. This was seconded by Brian Peterson.

·        Carl Johnson indicated that he would speak with Terry Christian (our insurance agent) regarding his recommendations and will express our concerns regarding our Trap Range Rules. It was felt that some of these recommendations were un-reasonable for shooting.

New business:

       Shoot Gun:

            May 17^th Skeet, Trap and Five Stand Exchange Shoot between La Cresent and the

            Tomah-Warrens Sportsman’s Club.

      Conservation: 

             Fishing was not a promising as we had hoped largely due to the recent cold weather.

             A Euchre party is going to be planned for May 30^th  at 7:00 pm.

       Archery:

            Saturday, May 9^th was work day.  The 3D targets were set up by Carl and Dale. We still

            need to blow out more of our trails and set up our West Central targets.  It was suggested

            that we send out e-mails and place it the newspaper to announce the Thursday

            night league will be starting in June. Open shooting will start this Thursday evening.

            Carl provided more of an update on the July 11^th Scheels shoot. 

Carl Johnson indicated that Scheels will pay $135.00 for an aid in the Wisconsin Bow Hunters newspaper.  Scheels indicated that they will also have staff come to help set up for the July 11^th Shoot.

May 27^th and May 30^th will be Bow Hunter’s Safety Education Program.

Summer 3D League will start June 4^th.

Summer League will go for the months of June, July and will conclude on August 13th.

Boardhead shooting will start on August 20^th.  Our Broadhead shoot will be on

August 30^th.   

Boy Scout Troop 87 will plan to camp here on grounds on June 19^th and June 20^th.  We will have club members will complete demonstrations for the Scouts.

Rifle committee: Vern Nelson indicated that there was no new information regarding the development of rifle range.
